The TriStar Cypher is an over/under shotgun chambered in 28 gauge with a deluxe walnut stock and blued finish. At 6 lbs. it carries comfortably through a full day of upland hunting, and the 28" barrel gives a smooth swing on moving targets. The over/under layout makes follow-up shots quick without losing balance. Five included chokes (Beretta pattern: SK, IC, M, IM, F) let you dial the pattern for anything from tight woodcock coverts to longer sporting-clays stations.

Detailed Features

The 28 gauge is light-hitting by design: manageable recoil, good patterns on upland birds, and easy to shoot all day. The walnut stock offers a firm, comfortable grip and a look that holds up well over time. Blued steel protects against wear and surface rust under field conditions. The 3" chamber accommodates both standard 2-3/4" and longer 3" shells, widening load options.

The Cypher fits hunters and sport shooters who want a properly made 28-gauge O/U without moving into custom price territory. It performs consistently at sporting clays and trap as well as in the field.

Owners of the TriStar Cypher 28 Gauge O/U tend to focus on two things: the look and the light handling. The walnut stock and blued finish get consistent praise for their classic appearance, and a lot of buyers say the gun photographs and carries better than they expected at the price.

On the range and in the field, most shooters find the 28 gauge recoil easy to manage and appreciate the light 6 lb. weight during long days. Accuracy and reliability get solid marks across upland hunting and clay-target use.

The practical concern that comes up most is 28-gauge shell availability. It is harder to find on store shelves than 12 or 20 gauge, and the cost per shell tends to be higher, worth factoring in if you plan to shoot a lot of rounds. A few users also suggest handling the gun before buying, since stock dimensions vary between models and fit affects how it swings.
