Owners of the Uberti 1874 Sharps Special in .45-70 consistently comment on the visual appeal of the 32-inch barrel and walnut stock combination. The rifle draws attention at the range, and most owners purchased it as much for the aesthetic as for shooting utility.

Shooting experience with the 1874 Sharps Special gets measured praise. The .45-70 chambering produces substantial recoil in a single-shot platform, and opinions vary on how comfortable extended shooting sessions are. The trigger quality on Uberti's Sharps reproductions is often a talking point; most owners find it acceptable out of the box, though competitive shooters frequently pursue trigger work.

For the price, the Uberti 1874 Sharps Special is generally seen as a fair entry into the large-bore single-shot category. The walnut stock and blue finish quality draw occasional criticism for inconsistency between examples, but the overall construction holds up well for range use. It fills a specific niche and owners who wanted exactly this tend to stay satisfied.
