The Weatherby 307 Alpine CT is a bolt-action rifle built around the 6.5 PRC cartridge, aimed at hunters and long-range shooters who want a light carry weight without giving up ballistic performance. The 6.5 PRC hits flat and hard at extended ranges while keeping recoil manageable.
At 6.1 lbs., this rifle is light enough for backcountry carry where weight compounds over miles. The 22" barrel hits a practical middle ground, long enough for full powder burn and good velocity, short enough to stay handy in timber. A threaded 5/8x24 muzzle lets you run a suppressor without any additional machining.
The 1-in-8" twist is optimized for heavier, high-BC 6.5mm bullets, which matters when you're pushing past 500 yards. The bolt cycles smoothly and feeds consistently from the 3+1 capacity magazine.
Having the shorter Barrel actually I think makes the rifle more maneuverable a little more pleasurable to carry and less awkward to handle especially for what this rifle is designed to do up in the High Country.
One of the things I love about the trigger Tech triggers is you can actually adjust the trigger with a simple click of a set screw.
This rifle platform overall between the Bastion stock design and the carbon fiber design that's integrated into the stock and the butt pad it really manages recoil really well even without these added tools of a suppressor or muzzle brake.
The model 307 action is just I mean buttery smooth.

Owners of the Weatherby 307 Alpine CT in 6.5 PRC generally focus their praise on the rifle's carry weight. At 6.1 lbs., it's genuinely light for a full-size bolt gun, and that matters on multi-day backcountry hunts. Accuracy feedback is consistently positive. The 1-in-8" twist pairs well with heavier 6.5mm loads, and shooters report tight groups at distance.
The 6.5 PRC cartridge itself draws enthusiastic comments for its flat trajectory and effective range, which makes this a go-to for hunters who take shots past 400 yards.
On the critical side, some users mention the trigger could be crisper and a few note that the finish feels modest relative to the price point. The price is a recurring topic. Most consider it fair given the performance, but it sits above entry-level bolt guns in the same caliber. Overall the sentiment leans positive among hunters who are specifically shopping for a light, accurate rifle that can handle demanding terrain.
