The Mark V Deluxe carries Weatherby's traditional walnut-and-blue styling, and owners of the line consistently point to the fit and finish as the reason to pick it over a synthetic-stocked rifle. The gloss walnut stock and polished metal draw comparisons to a classic sporting rifle rather than a modern hunting tool.

Recoil management is a common talking point with Weatherby Magnum cartridges, and the Pachmayr Decelerator pad gets credit for making longer range sessions more comfortable. A few owners note the glossy finish shows scratches more readily than a matte or synthetic stock would in rough field conditions.

Buyers who choose the Deluxe over Weatherby's more affordable models generally do so for the walnut stock and blued finish rather than any functional advantage, and most describe the rifle as accurate enough to fill the role expected of a premium Mark V.
