Detailed Features
The back-bored vent-rib barrel reduces shot deformation for more consistent patterns and keeps weight down without thinning the barrel wall. Three Invector Plus chokes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder) are included. The pump action cycles cleanly and handles a broad range of 12-gauge loads. A reversible crossbolt safety works for both right- and left-handed shooters. The Grade I hardwood stock has a traditional field look that distinguishes it from synthetic-stocked alternatives in the SXP lineup.

What Reviewers Say
Quoted verbatim from YouTube reviews. Each link opens the video at the moment quoted.
One thing i don't like is this texture just almost it's not aggressive enough it's just i think it's really easy to slip off.
Runs pretty smooth recoil i'm gonna put this gun up there as one of the lighter recoiling pump shotguns on the market.
Trigger is a bit heavy it's not that it's out of line with other guns at this price point but i just wish it was a lighter trigger.
Lastly length of pull is way too short for me i would have to order aftermarket pieces to shoot this more comfortably.
Well guys the speed shooting honestly is not going that well i hate to admit it but i'm having some issues the gun is ejecting full shells.
Customers Say
AI-generated insights derived from customer reviews and discussions on popular gun-enthusiast forums.
The SXP Field has a solid reputation as an affordable, dependable field gun. Reliability with various loads is the most commonly cited strength. Owners use it for upland birds, small game, and clay sports without significant complaints. The 28-inch barrel is noted as a good balance: long enough for a smooth swing on crossing targets, short enough not to be unwieldy in the field.
Balance and handling draw consistent positive comments. The walnut stock is appreciated by traditionalists who don't want a synthetic-stocked gun. Value relative to other 12-gauge pumps at this price point comes up frequently as a reason buyers choose it.
On the critical side, finish durability is a recurring complaint. The matte black metal finish shows wear with regular field use faster than some owners expect. Trigger feel is serviceable but not crisp; a few reviewers suggest aftermarket work for improvement. Weight at nearly 7 lbs. is the upper end for a field gun, and some note it becomes tiring by the end of a long hunt. Customization options are limited relative to some competing pump platforms.
