The Remington 700 BDL is a bolt-action rifle offered in a range of chamberings, from .243 Winchester up to .300 Winchester Magnum. The smooth-cycling bolt and the cylindrical receiver, which beds solidly in the stock, are the reasons the platform has such a long accuracy reputation. The 700 BDL carries a gloss American walnut stock with a black fore-end cap and cut checkering. The Monte Carlo comb and raised cheekpiece lift the shooter's eye into line with a mounted scope. A hinged floorplate lets the magazine be emptied without cycling live rounds through the chamber, and it is the fastest way to tell a BDL from the ADL below it, which has a blind magazine and no floorplate. Standard chamberings hold four rounds and the belted magnums hold three. Barrels are 22 inches except in 7mm Remington Magnum and .300 Winchester Magnum, which are 24. A hooded ramp front sight and adjustable rear sight are fitted, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for optics.
