The SIG Sauer 716i TREAD is a direct-impingement AR-10 chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO (.308 Winchester). The direct-impingement gas system keeps weight down compared to piston alternatives. A 16-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel and free-floating M-LOK handguard support accuracy and accessory mounting. Ambidextrous safety and a two-stage Matchlite Duo trigger are standard. Lightweight aluminum receivers and a full-length Picatinny top rail round out the platform.
