Owners of the Beretta 688 Performance cite the long 32-inch barrel as a key draw for clay target and competition work. The balance and swing characteristics get consistent praise from competitive shooters who prefer longer sight planes.

The 688 Performance name carries weight in the clay sports community, and owners generally find the fit and finish consistent with what Beretta delivers at this tier. The trigger is a common discussion point, with most finding it well-suited to repetitive competition use, though personal preference on pull weight and reset varies.

At the price point the 688 Performance occupies, buyers expect it to require little immediate investment after purchase. Most owners report that expectation is met, though a portion of buyers note that the 12 Gauge configuration and 2-round capacity mean it is purpose-built for specific shooting disciplines rather than general use.
