The X-Bolt 2 Hell's Canyon LR SR is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .300 Win Mag, built around a fluted heavy sporter contour barrel that runs 2 inches longer than standard, which pushes bullet velocity up and extends effective range. The barrel is free-floated and the action is bedded to reduce vibration between shots.

Detailed Features

The muzzle is threaded 5/8"-24 and ships with a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake. Adding a suppressor is straightforward if you want to go that direction.

The magazine is a proprietary single-stack Plus design that holds 5 or 6 rounds depending on the cartridge. Its geometry keeps bullet tips from getting battered during recoil or chambering, which matters for polymer-tipped hunting rounds.

The Cerakote Smoked Bronze finish holds up better than traditional bluing in field conditions. The McMillan Game Scout stock is fiberglass composite with aluminum pillars and a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. It's a purpose-built long-range hunting setup rather than a general-purpose sporter.

The Browning X-Bolt 2 Hell's Canyon LR SR in .300 Win Mag draws mostly positive feedback, with a few recurring criticisms worth noting.

Accuracy is the standout. Owners regularly report tight groups at distance, and the rifle holds up whether you're using it for precision hunting or long-range practice. The free-floated barrel and bedded action appear to deliver what Browning intends.

Build quality is well-regarded. The rifle feels solid without being excessively heavy, and the Hell's Canyon finish gets favorable comments for its look and durability. Most shooters find the recoil manageable for a .300 Win Mag, particularly with the muzzle brake installed.

The most consistent criticism is price. While most owners agree the quality is there, some feel that competing rifles at a lower price point close the gap enough to make the premium feel less obvious. A handful of shooters also mention the factory trigger as adequate but not special, and note that adding a scope and bipod brings the carry weight up noticeably. Ammunition cost and availability for .300 Win Mag comes up in longer threads, but that's a caliber issue, not a rifle issue.
