Detailed Features

• The 20-inch threaded barrel ships with a muzzle brake and is set up for a suppressor once removed; transfer of a suppressor requires additional federal paperwork.
• A drilled and tapped steel receiver accepts the X-Lock scope mounting system, which uses a four-screw base per ring for a solid mount.
• The Vari-Tech stock has an adjustable length of pull, adjustable comb, and interchangeable grip modules.
• An adjustable deluxe trigger lets the shooter set pull characteristics.
• The receiver and bolt are redesigned from the original X-Bolt as part of the X-Bolt 2 platform.

Owners of the X-Bolt 2 Hunter in 7mm PRC generally like pairing a magnum-class cartridge with a shorter, sporter-contour barrel, since it keeps the rifle easier to carry and swing than a full-length magnum barrel would be. The threaded muzzle is a common selling point for owners who already run or plan to add a suppressor.

The Vari-Tech stock's adjustable comb and length of pull get consistent praise, especially from shooters who found earlier X-Bolt stocks too generic a fit. The interchangeable grip modules let owners tune the hand feel, though a few say the modules are a small enough difference that they rarely swap them after the initial setup.

Opinions on value track with the rest of the X-Bolt 2 line: owners see the adjustable trigger and X-Lock mounting system as meaningful upgrades over a basic hunting rifle, while a smaller group thinks the composite SPR configuration costs more than it needs to for a hunting-only use case. Aftermarket support for the platform is viewed as solid but still developing compared to more established bolt-action lines.
