The 30-round magazine means fewer reloads during drills or extended range sessions, which matters in competition contexts or when running training scenarios. The 8.9-inch barrel contributes to muzzle velocity and consistent accuracy at typical engagement distances.
At 5.5 lbs., the AP5 is on the heavier side for a pistol, but that weight helps absorb recoil and keeps the platform steady during faster strings of fire. The black finish is straightforward and holds up under normal use.
The Century AP5 gets a mixed but generally favorable reception among shooters familiar with the MP5 pattern.
Build quality and accuracy are the most frequently praised attributes. The 30-round capacity is a consistent highlight for those who want extended range sessions without reloading. Ergonomics and recoil management also get positive mentions, with newer shooters finding the platform approachable.
Reliability is the main point of contention. Some users report occasional feeding problems or jams, typically tied to specific ammunition types or early break-in use. Price draws occasional debate as well, though the majority who discuss it consider the feature set reasonable for the cost.
The general takeaway from discussions is that the AP5 is a capable and enjoyable semi-auto, but prospective buyers should run it with their intended ammunition before committing to it for defensive or competition use.

Mine ran 200 rounds flawlessly during its break-in outing. Accuracy has been impressive and it is simply fun to shoot, but the best part was seeing the grin it put on my 82-year-old dad's face.
