Owners of the FX-9 generally regard it as a practical 9mm AR-pistol that punches above its price point. The AR-pattern controls and layout make it intuitive for anyone already familiar with the platform, and the 9mm chambering keeps range sessions affordable. Reliability with a wide range of 9mm hollow-point and ball ammunition is the most commonly cited strength.

The SB Mini brace works adequately for most users, though some find it less refined than braces on more expensive pistols. The faux suppressor is purely cosmetic, which draws mixed opinions, but the muzzle threads underneath allow for a real suppressor or muzzle device swap. OD Green finish adherence is generally praised.

The FX-9 splits opinion mainly on fit and finish compared to higher-end 9mm AR-pistols. Some owners accept minor machining marks as a trade-off for the price, while others find them distracting. The 31-round magazine capacity is consistently called out as a practical advantage over competitors in the same class.
