Features

The 16.3-inch barrel keeps the overall length short, which helps in brushy cover and tight hunting blinds. The AR-style magazine is a practical choice for .350 Legend. Standard AR-platform magazines in that caliber are widely compatible, which makes finding spares straightforward. At 6.1 lbs the rifle is light enough to carry all day without strain. .350 Legend produces low recoil, which keeps follow-up shots fast and comfortable.

Usage

This rifle is well suited for deer hunting and other mid-sized game at moderate ranges where .350 Legend is an appropriate choice. Some states restrict hunters to straight-wall cartridges in certain zones, and .350 Legend qualifies, which broadens where this rifle can be legally used. It also works for range practice. Ammunition selection is narrower than common calibers like .308 or .30-06, so buyers in rural areas should verify local availability before committing.

The Ruger American Ranch in .350 Legend draws consistently positive feedback on its core attributes, with a handful of practical caveats.

Compact size and light weight come up in nearly every positive review. Hunters using it in dense cover appreciate the short barrel, and the 6.1 lb weight makes all-day carry comfortable. Reliability with a range of ammunition is noted often, and accuracy out of the box is praised. Most owners report solid groups without significant adjustment.

The AR-style magazine is a dividing point. Some owners see it as a practical convenience; others prefer traditional box magazine designs. The price is generally seen as fair for what the rifle delivers, which makes it attractive to buyers who don't want to spend significantly more for a hunting-specific bolt gun.

On the critical side: .350 Legend ammunition is less available than established calibers, and some buyers in smaller markets report having to order online rather than buying locally. Trigger feel gets occasional criticism, though personal preference plays a large role in those assessments. Some shooters also compare the caliber unfavorably to .308 or .30-06 for longer-range or larger-game applications, though that's a caliber limitation rather than a rifle fault.
