Who It's For

New shooters building fundamentals, experienced LCP owners who want a cheaper-to-run training analog, and anyone who wants a light, discreet carry option.

Owners of the Ruger LCP II Gen 2 in .22 LR generally like it for what it is: a lightweight, compact gun that's easy to carry and cheap to shoot. The .22 LR chambering draws consistent praise for manageable recoil, especially from newer shooters or those who want a low-stress range session.

Affordable ammo costs come up regularly. The ability to put a lot of rounds downrange without spending much is a real draw for practice-focused buyers.

The main criticisms are predictable. Some users question whether .22 LR has enough stopping power for primary defensive carry, which tends to spark the usual debate about whether this is a main gun or a backup. Feeding and ejection issues get mentioned occasionally; most who report problems say a proper break-in period and consistent maintenance help. Overall, people who buy it knowing what it is tend to be satisfied.
