The Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite is a semi-automatic .22 LR pistol with a purple anodized aluminum upper and black accents. The 22/45 name reflects its grip angle and magazine release position, which mimic the 1911, useful for shooters who train on both platforms.

Features

One-button takedown is the Mark IV's headline upgrade over previous generations: no tools, no fumbling with the grip-to-frame interface. The threaded barrel (1/2x28) accepts standard suppressors or muzzle devices without an adapter. A Picatinny rail runs under the dust cover for lights or lasers, and the included Riton red dot mounts directly to the receiver. The internal hammer firing system gives a consistent trigger without exposed hammer snag concerns.

At 4.4 inches of barrel and a lightweight aluminum upper, the pistol handles well through extended range sessions. Recoil with .22 LR is minimal, which makes it a practical choice for new shooters building fundamentals or anyone running a lot of repetitions on limited budget.

Owners of the Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite in Purple with the Riton optic generally land in positive territory, though with some practical caveats.

The lightweight construction draws consistent praise. The aluminum upper keeps the gun easy to manage for extended sessions. Accuracy with .22 LR at typical pistol distances is well-regarded, and the Riton red dot is seen as a useful addition, though some shooters opt to swap it for a different optic they trust more. The purple finish is polarizing in a good way. It gets noticed at the range, which suits buyers who chose it specifically for that reason. Low recoil and inexpensive ammunition make it a popular choice for training volume.

On the critical side, the 10-round capacity frustrates some users who'd prefer more rounds between reloads, particularly for competitive use. Disassembly, despite the one-button design, trips up some owners initially. The process isn't quite as intuitive as the marketing implies until you've done it a few times. A handful of buyers feel the price is on the high side relative to other .22 pistols with similar specs.
