Detailed Features

The convertible design ships with two cylinders (one for .22 LR, one for .22 WMR), so you can switch based on your needs. The ramp front sight and adjustable rear sight allow for accurate aiming at varied distances. The alloy steel frame with blued finish is durable and provides some corrosion resistance. The transfer bar safety prevents the revolver from firing unless the trigger is fully pressed, which is a useful safety feature when carrying with a loaded cylinder. The 6.5-inch barrel is longer than the 5.5-inch variant, which gives a slightly longer sight radius.

Usage Scenarios

The .22 LR cylinder keeps ammunition costs manageable for range sessions and plinking. Swapping to .22 WMR offers more velocity for small game hunting. The single-action mechanism, with its deliberate cock-and-fire operation, makes it a good teaching tool for learning revolver fundamentals. Ruger's history with the Single-Six dates to 1953, and many owners value that lineage beyond just function.

The Ruger Single-Six .22 Dual-Caliber Convertible Revolver draws consistently positive feedback from owners and enthusiasts.

Versatility is the top-cited feature. The ability to run both .22 LR and .22 WMR from a single platform appeals to shooters who want one gun for plinking, small game hunting, and target shooting without buying separate firearms.

Build quality is another recurring theme. Ruger's construction is well-regarded, and owners consistently describe the Single-Six as solid and well-made. Accuracy gets positive marks, particularly with the adjustable rear sight helping shooters dial in at different distances.

The single-action mechanism has its own following. Users who prefer a deliberate, controlled shooting experience find the cocking-and-firing process satisfying rather than limiting. Beginners also benefit from the straightforward operation and light recoil.

Aesthetics matter to many owners. The classic lines, blued finish, and rubber grips carry a traditional American revolver look that some find preferable to modern alternatives.

On caliber preference, a few owners settle on one cylinder and rarely swap, often defaulting to .22 LR for everyday use. Some would prefer additional caliber options, though the .22 LR / .22 WMR pairing covers most rimfire needs.

The Single-Six's history since 1953 gives it collector appeal that a purely functional revolver might not carry. Overall sentiment is strongly positive across practical and collector audiences.
