The Savage Axis 2 XP is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .243 Win with a 20-inch threaded barrel and an OD green synthetic stock over a black finish. It comes with a factory-mounted 3-9x40mm scope and a 4+1 round capacity, aimed at hunters who want a lighter-recoiling caliber paired with an upgraded stock over the original Axis. The stock has an adjustable length of pull and a contoured pistol grip with palm swells on both sides, and the barrel threading allows a muzzle device to be added.

The .243 Win Axis 2 XP usually appeals to hunters after a lighter-recoiling rifle for deer or varmints, and reports on the action are similar to the rest of the Axis 2 line: reliable feeding and extraction once broken in, with a trigger that owners rate as noticeably better than the original Axis.

The ambidextrous grip and adjustable length of pull get mentioned favorably, since they let the same stock fit a range of shooters and body sizes. The factory scope is convenient, though a few owners eventually replace it once they settle on their preferred optic.

As a value pick, the .243 Win chambering combined with the Axis 2's lower recoil makes this version popular for new or younger shooters, and buyers generally see it as a reasonable started rifle rather than a long-term match gun. Aftermarket parts are shared with the rest of the Axis platform, so options exist if an owner wants to upgrade later.
