Buyers of the Savage Axis 2 XP in .270 Win with matte black/green finish tend to be satisfied, particularly around value and accuracy. The .270 Win cartridge gets credit for its versatility across hunting scenarios, and most users find the rifle shoots tight groups with minimal setup. The smooth bolt throw and the AccuTrigger's adjustability are frequently mentioned positives.
The included scope package draws mixed opinions. At the entry-level price it's considered adequate, but users who push longer distances often swap it for something better. The green synthetic stock is appreciated for durability, though a handful of buyers feel it lacks the sturdiness of stocks on pricier rifles.
Recoil is manageable for most shooters; those more sensitive to it occasionally add a recoil pad. A few experienced users note the rifle doesn't have some of the refinements found on higher-end models, but for the price and intended use, the general sentiment is positive.
