Owners of the Encore ProHunter turkey gun generally like how light and easy to carry a single-shot break-action feels compared to a pump or semi-auto shotgun on a long sit or stalk. The break-open design gets praise for how simple it is to clean and inspect between hunts.

Opinions on the FlexTech stock are mixed. Some hunters like the shock-absorbing feel it adds when shooting heavier turkey loads, while others say it takes a season to get used to compared to a wood-stocked gun. The Mossy Oak Bottomland finish is popular for staying camouflaged in ground blinds and treestands.

On value, the Encore platform is well regarded because the barrel is swappable, so owners who already own another Encore barrel see the ProHunter as an inexpensive way to add a dedicated turkey gauge rather than buying a whole new gun.
