28 gauge pump-action shotguns are the rarest way to buy the gauge. Most 28 gauge guns are over-unders, side-by-sides or semi-automatics, and the pump survives in a handful of models: the Browning BPS (Hunter, Medallion and Micro Midas), the Remington 870 Wingmaster, and the CZ 628 and Akkar 628. A 28 gauge pump is a light, low-recoil repeater for upland birds and small game, and it fires the standard 2-3/4 inch shell with a 3/4 ounce payload.
