Detailed Features
The vent-ribbed barrel reduces muzzle rise between shots and gives the bead a clean sighting plane. Five interchangeable chokes (F, IC, LM, M, SK) cover the range from tight patterns for longer shots to open chokes for close flushes. The Turkish walnut stock has a fixed pistol grip that fits naturally for most shooters. Crossbolt safety is positive and intuitive.
Usage Scenarios
The 28 gauge is well regarded for upland bird hunting, where the lighter payload and reduced recoil let shooters stay sharper through a full day. The 628 Field Select also works well on clay targets, trap or skeet, where the gun's balance and the 28's mild recoil keep fatigue low over extended shooting sessions.

What Reviewers Say
Quoted verbatim from YouTube reviews. Each link opens the video at the moment quoted.
No comparing this 28 to this big old 12-gauge but I will tell you this 3/4 of an ounce of payload in this shotgun shell inside the bore diameter of a 28 gauge is nearly ballistically perfect.
There's no way I'm gonna try and pluck a rooster from the sky with that twenty-eight until I can actually first see what it can do.
If you're looking to get into 28 gauge the cz 628 is light it's fast and it's lethal you just got to be selective with your shots.

Customer Reviews (1)
This is an exceptionally smooth and lightweight shotgun with notably mild recoil for a 28 gauge. The ported barrel keeps muzzle rise extremely low, and mine has been excellent for registered skeet. Build quality feels very good, while the light weight makes it particularly handy. My one frustration is removing the restriction rod from the magazine tube for upland hunting. That job is much more troublesome than it ought to be on an otherwise excellent shotgun.
