Owners of the BLG Mauser HSr pick it up primarily as a low-cost .22 LR plinker or training pistol. The frozen grey two-tone finish is noted as distinctive for the price range, and most buyers find the build quality acceptable for casual range work.

The HSr's handling draws mixed feedback. Shooters who like the grip geometry find it comfortable for extended sessions, while others note the polymer grip panels lack the texture needed for a secure hold with sweaty hands. Reliability is adequate with quality .22 LR ammunition but some owners report occasional failures to feed with bulk or low-velocity rounds.

At its price point the BLG Mauser HSr is seen as a functional entry-level option. Owners who compare it to other budget .22 LR semi-autos find it competitive on finish quality, though the aftermarket for parts and accessories is limited compared to more established .22 LR platforms.
