Detailed Features

The 10" barrel extracts more velocity from the .460 S&W Magnum cartridge and provides a longer sight radius for precision shooting. The adjustable rear sight lets you dial in for specific loads or distances. The black rubber grip absorbs some recoil from a cartridge that generates substantial muzzle energy. Brushed stainless steel resists corrosion in field conditions. Trigger pull runs 4-5 lbs. The .460 S&W Magnum chamber also accepts .454 Casull and .45 Colt.

Usage Scenarios

The BFR Long Cylinder is built for hunting large game where stopping power and field accuracy matter more than portability. The 10" barrel and 4.7 lb weight make it unwieldy for anything but holster carry or shooting from a bench. It also sees use in silhouette competition where long-range handgun accuracy is the goal.

The Magnum BFR .460 S&W Magnum generates the kind of interest that comes with a very large, powerful handgun. Owners appreciate the multi-caliber flexibility. Being able to run .454 Casull and .45 Colt through the same cylinder is a practical advantage. Build quality and the stability the weight provides during shooting are regularly noted positives.

The main practical critiques focus on the 4.7 lb weight making it difficult to carry in the field for long periods, and the recoil from full-power .460 S&W loads being demanding enough that beginners aren't the right audience. Ammunition cost for .460 S&W Magnum also comes up frequently as a limiting factor for regular shooting. The consensus is that it's a specialized tool well-suited for its specific applications, hunting and silhouette shooting, rather than a general-purpose handgun.
