Detailed Features

The 10-inch barrel maximizes velocity from the .500 S&W case and provides a stable platform for accurate shooting at hunting distances. At 17.5 inches overall and 4.7 lbs, this is a two-handed field revolver.

Brushed stainless steel resists corrosion for outdoor use. The adjustable rear sight allows the shooter to tune point of impact for different loads. Trigger pull weight of approximately 4 to 5 lbs is consistent with single-action operation. Standard rubber grips help manage the substantial recoil of full-power .500 S&W loads. The transfer bar safety prevents discharge without a trigger pull.

The BFR .500 S&W Magnum generates strong reactions in the firearm community:

1. The cartridge itself is a defining feature. The .500 S&W is valued for its big-game hunting capability and its ability to stop large predators. Owners who hunt or work in bear country find practical purpose in the platform.

2. Stainless construction is consistently praised for build quality and durability. The revolver feels well-machined and holds up to extended use.

3. Recoil management is a central discussion topic. Some shooters enjoy the challenge of shooting a full-power .500; others are candid that the recoil is significant and requires proper technique and experience with large-caliber handguns. Grip technique, stance, and muzzle brakes all come up as mitigation strategies.

4. Accuracy at longer ranges is generally reported as impressive, especially given the extended 10-inch barrel.

5. Size and weight are acknowledged directly. At 17.5 inches and 4.7 lbs, it is not a carry firearm. Most owners use it specifically for hunting, range shooting, or as a collectible for its unusual caliber.

6. Price is discussed as an investment; most owners consider the quality and performance from Magnum Research to justify the cost.

7. The stainless finish gets visual approval alongside its functional benefits.
