Detailed Features

The interchangeable stock modules change comb height without tools, letting the same stock work with either a scope or iron sights. The BX-1 flush-mount rotary magazine is compatible with the large library of 10/22 magazines, which matters for owners who already have Ruger magazines on hand. The Ruger Marksman Adjustable Trigger adjusts between 3 and 5 lbs of pull weight. The Power Bedding system free-floats the barrel and locks the receiver solidly into the stock for consistent shot-to-shot accuracy. The 22-inch barrel adds velocity and sight radius compared to shorter 18-inch configurations.

Usage Scenarios

• Target shooting where the 22-inch barrel and adjustable trigger support accuracy at distance.
• Small game and varmint hunting where the .22 LR caliber and bolt action are a practical match.
• Training new shooters on bolt-action mechanics with manageable recoil.

The Ruger American Precision .22 LR (model 8301, 22-inch, black synthetic) draws positive feedback similar to the rest of the American Rimfire family, with accuracy and value as the anchor points.

Accuracy is consistently praised. The bolt action, adjustable trigger, and free-floating barrel combination produces repeatable shot placement that owners appreciate at rimfire distances. The synthetic stock is seen as durable and weather-resistant. Most owners consider the price-to-performance ratio favorable compared to other .22 LR bolt guns in the category. The compatibility with standard 10/22 magazines is mentioned as a practical bonus for owners with Ruger magazines already in their kit.

The trigger pull gets occasional criticism from those who prefer a lighter factory setting, though the adjustability is available to address this. Weight is noted by some as slightly heavier than compact alternatives at 6 lbs, which is worth considering if the rifle will be carried frequently during hunts. Magazine feeding reliability issues come up in a few discussions, usually resolved by switching ammunition or magazine brands. The overall reception is solidly positive.
