The Savage Arms Axis 2 Compact in .243 Win is a bolt-action rifle that handles well for a wide range of shooters, light enough for younger hunters, accurate enough for serious field work. The 20-inch barrel and 39.5-inch overall length keep it maneuverable without sacrificing much velocity.
The AccuTrigger adjusts to your preferred pull weight. It's a meaningful feature at this price and contributes directly to the accuracy most owners report. At 6.4 lbs., the rifle is light to carry; .243 recoil is mild enough that the lighter weight isn't an issue. The detachable box magazine holds four rounds and makes reloading straightforward. Integral swivel studs let you attach a sling or bipod without modification.
The green synthetic stock resists weather and handles rough treatment. The matte black finish reduces glare. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting.
The .243 Win caliber is a logical starting point for new hunters: manageable recoil, genuine effectiveness on varmints and deer-sized game. The compact dimensions make this model a natural fit for younger shooters or anyone who finds full-size bolt-actions uncomfortable. Experienced hunters use it as a light-carry gun for situations where a heavier rifle would be burdensome.
.243 Win works across a range of hunting applications: varmint shooting, deer, and pronghorn are all reasonable targets. The compact design holds up well in dense brush or on long walks where weight adds up. At the range, the adjustable trigger helps develop consistent form.
I think the bolt issue has been resolved.
Savage just do like this core locked I'm thinking that's not terrible but it's not great.
These right here, they are the cheapest, the most untrustworthy rings ever, right?
What I would suggest is if you don't want to go with this and go with something more expensive, Savage has great rifles.
I trust my crossbow more than I trust this rifle. And I trust my AR-15 more than I trust this one.

The .243 Win caliber draws praise for its versatility. It handles varmints and deer-sized game, which broadens its appeal across different hunting scenarios.
The compact size is cited often as a reason for choosing this model. Parents buying a first rifle for younger hunters specifically mention the shorter dimensions and light weight as key factors. The smooth bolt operation gets positive mentions as well.
