The Savage Arms Axis 2 Compact in .243 Win is a left-hand bolt-action rifle with a gray synthetic stock, matte black finish, and a user-adjustable AccuTrigger. Weighing 6.4 lbs. at 39.5" overall with a 20" barrel, it's a manageable package that doesn't sacrifice much reach. The receiver is drilled and tapped, so mounting a scope is straightforward.
The AccuTrigger adjusts for pull weight, which helps shooters dial in a crisp, consistent break. The left-hand bolt action is laid out specifically for southpaw shooters, not a mirrored afterthought. At 1-in-9.25" twist, the barrel stabilizes .243 Win projectiles well across the common hunting and target weight range.
The matte finish limits glare in outdoor conditions, and the synthetic stock handles weather without warping. Integral swivel studs are installed for sling attachment, and the detachable box magazine holds four rounds plus one in the chamber.
Left-handed hunters and youth shooters transitioning to a centerfire rifle are the most natural fit. The .243 Win caliber has light recoil relative to its effective range, which makes it a good starting point for newer shooters without feeling underpowered for deer-sized game.
The .243 Win is effective on deer and varmints at moderate distances. The 20" barrel in a compact stock works well in woods or from a blind, and the adjustable trigger holds its own for target work at the range. The drilled and tapped receiver makes it easy to set up with whatever optic you prefer.
I think the bolt issue has been resolved.
These right here, they are the cheapest, the most untrustworthy rings ever, right?
What I would suggest is if you don't want to go with this and go with something more expensive, Savage has great rifles.
I trust my crossbow more than I trust this rifle. And I trust my AR-15 more than I trust this one.

The Savage Axis 2 Compact LH in .243 Win with AccuTrigger gets consistent feedback around accuracy, affordability, and fit for left-handed shooters.
Most users are satisfied with accuracy out of the box. The AccuTrigger is the most frequently praised feature. The adjustable pull weight and crisp break stand out at this price point. The rifle's value proposition comes up often; users feel it delivers quality performance without a heavy investment.
The compact size and lighter weight (6.4 lbs.) draw positive comments from hunters who cover a lot of ground, as well as from parents buying for younger shooters. Left-handed users specifically note that a quality left-hand option at this price is hard to find, which adds to the rifle's appeal.
Critical feedback focuses mostly on the stock. Some find the material feels basic or lacks the ergonomic shaping of higher-end rifles, and extended sessions can reveal comfort limitations. A few users have flagged scope mounting alignment issues, worth checking during initial setup. Customization options are somewhat limited compared to platforms with larger aftermarket support.
Overall, the Axis 2 Compact LH .243 is seen as a dependable, budget-friendly hunting rifle, particularly for left-handed shooters and youth hunters who need a manageable, accurate centerfire option.
