The Savage Arms Axis 2 Compact is a left-hand bolt-action rifle in .243 Win with a green synthetic stock and matte black finish. At 6.4 lbs. and 39.5" overall, it's compact and light enough for all-day field use. The user-adjustable AccuTrigger and left-hand configuration give it practical advantages for southpaw shooters that aren't always easy to find at this price point.
The AccuTrigger is adjustable for pull weight, letting shooters set it where they want without going to an aftermarket trigger. The left-hand action is purpose-built, not a modified right-hand design. Integral swivel studs are installed from the factory for sling attachment.
The 20" barrel in .243 Win handles deer and varmint loads well, and the 1-in-9.25" twist stabilizes bullets across the common weight range for this caliber. The matte finish reduces glare, and the green synthetic stock is weather-resistant and lightweight.
Left-handed hunters and youth or smaller-framed shooters looking for a lightweight, capable centerfire rifle. The .243 Win caliber is a reasonable step up from rimfire for young hunters, and the compact dimensions make it easy to carry and handle.
Works well for deer hunting in wooded terrain where a short, light rifle is an advantage. The .243 Win is also effective for varmint control at moderate ranges. At the range, the adjustable trigger helps with consistent groups during target practice.
I mean, it's really an all-around great hunting rifle.
These rifles are still great lots of features shoot excellent right out of the box.
Okay so they're basically the best quality for an entry level product.
Savage just do like this core locked I'm thinking that's not terrible but it's not great.
They've got this really nice hexagonally shaped oversized bolt handle. Now, I actually really like this cuz it has really excellent purchase when charging a firearm.

The Savage Axis 2 Compact LH in .243 Win draws steady positive feedback, particularly around value, accuracy, and the availability of a left-hand model.
Most users appreciate the price point. For what it costs, accuracy is generally good. Users report consistent groupings with a variety of ammunition types, and the bolt cycles smoothly. The compact, lightweight design comes up frequently as a practical advantage for younger shooters and anyone covering ground in the field.
Left-handed shooters are consistently positive about having a purpose-built left-hand option that doesn't cost a premium. The AccuTrigger is another common positive. Adjustable pull weight and a clean break stand out against comparable rifles in the price range.
Critical feedback centers on the stock material and light-rifle recoil. Some users find the synthetic stock feels utilitarian and eventually replace it for comfort or aesthetics. A few note that the lighter build makes .243 Win recoil more noticeable than expected, though it remains mild for most shooters. Build quality overall is seen as appropriate for the price but not in the same tier as more expensive rifles.
Overall, the Axis 2 Compact LH .243 Win is viewed as a solid, practical choice for left-handed hunters and youth shooters who need a reliable centerfire rifle without a significant investment.
