This bolt-action rifle from Weatherby is the Mark V Carbon Compact (MCC01N240WR4B), chambered in 240 Weatherby Magnum. The build combines Weatherby's lighter six-lug action with a 22-inch BSF carbon-fiber barrel and a threaded muzzle fitted with the factory Accubrake DST brake. Detailed Features

• BSF carbon-fiber barrel is threaded 5/8x24 and comes fitted with Weatherby's Accubrake DST directional self-timing muzzle brake to cut felt recoil in the magnum chambering.
• Six-lug Mark V standard action is lighter than the full-size Mark V while keeping the same lockup strength.
• Synthetic stock uses a Monte Carlo profile with a 13-inch length of pull, sized for smaller-statured shooters.
• Adjustable TriggerTech trigger gives a crisp, consistent pull out of the box.

Owners drawn to the Mark V Carbon Compact tend to comment on how much lighter it carries than a standard Mark V, and the shorter length of pull comes up often from smaller-framed shooters who found other magnum rifles awkward to mount. The Accubrake DST gets credit for keeping recoil manageable in a magnum chambering, though a few owners note the brake adds noticeable blast next to other shooters on the line.

Build quality on the Mark V action is generally well regarded, with the six-lug lockup and smooth bolt throw coming up often in discussion. The carbon-fiber barrel keeps the rifle nose-light in the field, which owners like when carrying it uphill, though some note a thin barrel profile can be more sensitive to heat during rapid strings of fire.

On value, the Carbon Compact sits toward the top of Weatherby's lineup, and owners weighing it against heavier steel-barreled options tend to see the trade as worth it for the weight savings and the tailored stock dimensions. The TriggerTech trigger is a frequent highlight, with owners liking a factory trigger that needs little aftermarket work.
