The Savage Arms Axis 2 XP is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .308 Win with an FDE synthetic stock and a left-hand configuration. It ships with a 3-9x40 scope and a user-adjustable AccuTrigger, making it a ready-to-shoot package without requiring immediate aftermarket additions.
The AccuTrigger is adjustable, letting shooters set pull weight to personal preference rather than accepting a fixed factory spec. The FDE synthetic stock holds up in wet and cold conditions without the maintenance a wood stock demands. The 4+1 detachable box magazine reloads faster than a fixed box, and the integral swivel studs are already installed for sling attachment. The included 3-9x40 scope is adequate for most field applications and saves a separate optics purchase.
The left-hand layout is a full mirror, bolt, ejection port, and safety all positioned for right-to-left shooters.
The .308 Win chambering handles deer and similar big game with good range and manageable recoil. At 42.5" overall length and 7.7 lbs., this is a standard hunting-length rifle rather than a compact or ultralight build. The combination of adjustable trigger and scoped package suits both new hunters getting started and experienced shooters who want a reliable backup or budget-friendly range rifle.
The left-hand configuration is the first thing most reviewers mention, and it gets consistent praise. Purpose-built LH bolt rifles at this price are uncommon, and this model fills the gap without compromise. The AccuTrigger draws positive feedback across the board: adjustable pull weight with a clean break is genuinely better than fixed triggers on comparable rifles.
Accuracy out of the box is frequently reported as good, with solid groupings at hunting distances. The included scope package gets mixed opinions. Newer buyers appreciate getting a scoped rifle in one transaction, while experienced shooters often treat it as a placeholder and plan an upgrade. Build quality is seen as appropriate for the price: the rifle feels solid, but the stock materials are clearly in the budget-tier range.
A few reviewers note the rifle runs heavier than expected for a synthetic stock build at 7.7 lbs. Customer service interactions with Savage are mostly reported as positive. Overall, the rifle is regularly recommended as a strong pick for left-handed shooters who want a complete, functional setup without paying a premium for the LH configuration.
